Two regional sports groups which work to improve the lives of local people in the community have received generous donations from a national housebuilder.
Downton Tennis Club and Football for Cancer have each received £1,000 towards their causes, as part of the Persimmon Homes South Coast Community Champions scheme.
Matt Paine, managing director for Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “As a company we are committed to supporting the small charities and organisations that operate near to our new homes developments.
“We are delighted to be helping two great causes this month. Small groups like these are the reason we started the Community Champions scheme, so it’s great to support both organisations in their fundraising efforts.”
Downton Tennis Club is thriving sports group offering a mix of adult, junior, squad and individual opportunities as well as a free tennis initiative for children in the community.
The club have already held successful fundraising activities including social events, raffles and stalls. A £1,000 windfall from Persimmon Homes will help the club to make their courts disabled friendly by installing a double gate entry, suitable for wheelchair access.
The club is a vital part of the local community, and more information can be found at www.downtontennisclub.com
Football for Cancer is a fundraising charity that raises money for local cancer charities and those affected by the disease through yearly events.
The charity is heavily dependent on public donations to continue its vital work within the community. Information on how to support Football for Cancer can be found on the website www.ffcevents.com
